AI AND DATA PLATFORMS LEAD

THE TEAM
Our Data & Engineering team is a close-knit crew of technology experts, scattered across the country but united in purpose. The AI and Data Platforms Lead position will work closely with amazing colleagues from across the entire organisation. Depending on the project, this role ensures platforms are strategically governed, effectively integrated, and consistently leveraged by internal teams.
Working closely with the IT Manager, Platform Leads, and GPAP’s Data & AI Governance Council, you’ll lead the implementation of our AI Strategy, making sure every AI use case is transparent, ethical, and aligned with Greenpeace values.
THE ROLE
This is a pivotal enterprise technology leadership role focused on platform enablement and governance rather than bespoke analytics delivery, and accountable for delivering GPAP’s AI Strategy and data governance capability. You’ll own and optimise GPAP’s enterprise data and AI platforms, ensuring:
- High-quality, decision-ready data
- Scalable, compliant, AI-ready data architecture
- Responsible AI capabilities embedded in organisational systems
This role provides strategic leadership for organisational metrics and insights, including Board and Executive reporting, ensuring accuracy, governance, and alignment to organisational strategy.
This role does not operate as a centralised reporting function, but instead enables self-service insights through governed data and platforms. This role does not focus on building dashboards or bespoke analytics, but on enabling scalable, governed data and AI capabilities across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Govern and oversee all AI use cases across the organisation, ensuring alignment with GPAP’s AI Use Policy and Ethical AI Guidance Framework.
- Maintain the organisation’s AI System Catalog and Model Cards for all AI use cases.
- Lead the AI and Data and AI Governance Council, ensuring alignment with GPAP’s Ethical AI Guidance Framework.
- Govern and optimise GPAP’s enterprise data platforms (Salesforce Data Cloud, BigQuery, Informatica, ERP, and MarTech platforms).
- Deliver the AI Strategy through structured rollout of AI-ready platforms and responsible, governed AI adoption.
- Oversee data quality frameworks, metadata standards, and data lineage for consistent enterprise reporting.
- Enable self-service analytics and natural language insights across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with all privacy, security, and regulatory obligations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You’re a strategic thinker with deep technical understanding and a passion for purpose-driven technology. You can move comfortably between Board-level governance and hands-on platform leadership, ensuring the integrity and scalability of data systems that drive impact.
You’ll have:
- 5+ years’ experience in data platform ownership, governance, or analytics leadership.
- Proven success implementing enterprise data and AI governance frameworks.
- Experience with modern cloud data architectures (e.g. Informatica, Salesforce, Google Cloud).
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI principles, AI governance, and platform-embedded AI capabilities.
- A strong interest in how data and AI can power environmental and social impact.
As a bonus (but not mandatory), you’ll have:
- Certifications in AI fundamentals, data governance, or cloud data platforms.
- Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organisations.

Annual full-time salary: $139,438.31 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
